Fresh Water
03:55
|
|||
They got fresh water where I come from
And if they let you in you can have some
It's no bother, you can have some of mine
They put chemicals in to control your brain
But don't mind those, still tastes the same
Everybody drinks it, so it must be fine
They got fresh air, they say it's clean
If there's something in there, well it can't be seen
So everybody breathes it, it's just a bit of fog
They got big ol' towers that scrape the sky
You can climb for hours til you're way up high
Oh the view would be brilliant if it wasn't for the smog
The water that they give you is poison
It washes all the worries from your mind
It makes you see reason
It snuffs out the treasonous kind
There's puddles round the drain
But there's poison in the rain
Drink any other water you can find
The children will tell you they are thirsty
But you must not let them drink
Or by the time your children have grown
They will have forgotten they were ever allowed to think!
They got fresh water where I come from
It keeps you in line, it makes your brain numb
But the children are dying, they'll have to drink some
They make you crazy
And then they make you like it
I'm getting hazy
I never felt nothing quite like it
They make your mind shrink
Then they convince you that you're guilty
And the more that you drink
The more it makes you feel thirsty
The water from the creek tastes fresher
They don't put anything in there
Pure H2O, and it seems to flow from nowhere
Drinking it will free you
Just don't let them see you
They'll hang you for that, beware

I'm Gonna Climb
02:39
|
|||
I'm gonna climb til I can soak in the view
I'm gonna climb til all my wishes come true
I'm gonna climb, because there's nothing else to do
Wooooah
I'm gonna climb though I know I may fall
I'm gonna climb, someday I'll feel a mile tall
I've gotta climb, 'cause then what's the point of it all?
Wooooah
I'm gonna climb up where the vultures sing loud
And I'll make that terrible screech my funeral sound
I'm gonna climb til my knees collapse
I'm gonna climb til I break my back
I'm gonna climb til my heart attacks
Wooooah
I'm gonna climb til my heels erode
I'm gonna climb til I can feel the bone
I've gotta climb, because it's all I've ever known
Wooooah
I'm gonna climb up where my body will be found
And I'll make that mountain top my burial ground

Ugly Kids
03:40
|
|||
The kid was born
In the dead of winter
He was kept warm
By the passing strangers
Scraps of fabric torn
Tossed in some worn old manger
They'd seen these kids before
No real home, no real danger
It's a peaceful town and
Folks are nice
There's always someone around
To lend a belly full of rice
And when the sun goes down
And out come the mice
Well somebody's bound
To let you stay for just one night
Oh no
They don't see you anymore
As you got older you got ugly so you got poor
You got cold when you got stuck out on the porch
They don't let the ugly kids indoors
And you
You just don't understand
Why they leave you
Picking through their cans
A bit of change can do a lot
You're awful kind to let me take it
I would ask my Ma
But see mama didn't make it
This bit of change is all I got
It's what I'm given and what I've found
I could ask my Pa
But see daddy ain't around
Cute little kid
Can always make a buck
If you got a tear to shed
Maybe a thumb to suck
Well now the kid is dead
Guess he ran out of of luck
No body gives you bread
When your face is fucked
Oh no
Well they don't feed you anymore
So you got frail, and you got weak, and you got sore
When you got pale they'll be cleaning up your corpse
'Hey I think I've seen this kid before'
And you
You just don't understand
Why they leave you
Picking through their cans
And you
Well you just don't stand a chance
And now they'll leave you
Chewing off your hands
Cute little kid
Can always make a buck
If you got a tear to shed
Maybe a thumb to suck
Well now the kid is dead
Guess he ran out of of luck
No body gives you bread
When your face is fucked
Oh no

Lawns Lawns Lawns
01:01
|
|||
Lawns lawns lawns
It's always been the same
We keep our lawns green
And the green keeps us sane
Pawns pawns pawns
In this silly little game
Where the rules are never ending
Well I'm not playing
Lawns lawns lawns
That's how it's always been
The lawn needs watering
The money need laundering
Either way it's gonna be green

I've been hearing rumours
People talking in the street
Little whispers and murmurs
Bout the corporate elite
Folks are telling secrets
Folks are tired of hearing lies
Word on the street its
Getting time to organize
We're gonna burn the whole thing down
We're starting again
And this time around
We are bound to win
We'll turn the whole thing 'round
Can you feel the earth spin?
We're gonna tear the whole thing up
It belongs in the trash
We'll behead the corrupt
And then burn all the cash
It's all about to erupt
We're gonna dance in the ash
I've been hearing stories
Of angry people everywhere
They're not fighting for glory
They're just taking back their share
Folks are sick of feeling cheating
Folks are finally making plans
History will be repeated
Money stick to bloody hands
We're gonna burn the whole thing down
We're starting again
And this time around
We are bound to win
We'll turn the whole thing 'round
Can you feel the earth spin?
We're gonna tear the whole thing up
It belongs in the trash
We'll behead the corrupt
And then burn all the cash
It's all about to erupt
We're gonna dance in the ash
I've been hearing riots
People blocking up the street
But now the city's nice and quiet
And all the rich men are asleep
But folks are sick of staying silent
Folks are finally getting loud
So if you're tired of the tyrant
Grab a torch and join the crowd
We're gonna burn the whole thing down
The man's gonna croak
We're gonna gather the town
We're gonna sing we're gonna choke
Burn it all to the ground
We're gonna breathe in the smoke
We're gonna burn the whole thing down
We're starting again
And this time around
We are bound to win
We'll turn the whole thing 'round
Can you feel the earth spin?
We're gonna tear the whole thing up
It belongs in the trash
We'll behead the corrupt
And then burn all the cash
It's all about to erupt
We're gonna dance in the ash

Summer thunder, evening rain
Sunny showers, dying flame
Doesn't matter, looks the same
You are the only beautiful thing
Friendly spiders, evil nuns
Poison flowers, plastic guns
Live for hours all at once
You are the only beautiful thing
You woke me up to tell me we had to wake up early
You woke me up with your screaming
You shook me up and told me they arrived early
I heard the drop, I was hoping I was dreaming
Something shatterers, homes destroyed
Sudden laughter, drones deployed
Forever after, through the void
You are the only beautiful thing
Stop and listen, form a line
Steady rhythm, march in time
Stars may glisten, and bullets shine
But you are the only beautiful thing
Spinning arrows, graceful flight
Shining barrel, a flash of light
And to our peril, this gorgeous fight
But you are the only beautiful thing
You sat me down and told me there's no point in running
You sat me down so I'd understand
We heard the sound that warned us worse things were coming
It shook the ground, and you took my hand
Hold your lover, target hit
Run for cover, blown to bits
And with a burst of colour, the atom splits
But you are the only beautiful thing

Poison In The Air
02:49
|
|||
I only saw the last few days of the year 2000
I remember them well
They were swell
I hardly remember a single thing since the year 2000
Must've been hell
Blocked it out
I only saw the last few sunny days before the fog set in
Vision impaired
Poison in the air
It only took a few short days of shallow breathing
Aren't you scared?
Poison in the air
I only saw the last few days of the year 2000
It was simpler back then
It was easier when
I hadn't any clue what would come past the year 2000
Air getting thin
No oxygen
I have never seen the clear sky stretch wide across the blue
It's darkness up there
Poison in the air
And I will never feel sun shine they way it used to
Breathers beware
Poison in the air

Another Big Flood
03:21
|
|||
I've got some bad news, buddy
The Creator is angry again
Skies are sunny
But we need rain before the season ends
It's gotta be blood
It's gotta be red
Only a sacrifice will do
It's gotta be flesh
It's gotta be fresh
And it's gotta be you
I've got some bad news, buddy
It seems the offerings have failed
The fields are muddy
And all our homes are setting sail
It's coming down fast
It's gonna be bad
Why was the sacrifice no good?
If this is the end
We're starting again
It's another big flood
Maybe this is good news, buddy
We'll all be sacrificed today
The water's coming
Soon this will all be washed away
They're wiping it clear
They're sweeping it clean
We did everything we could
If this is the end
We're starting again
It's another big flood

It Makes Perfect Sense
02:16
|
|||
It makes perfect sense to me
How these ideas were conceived
And I'm sure if I was born back then
I too would have believed
Way back when the sun and stars and moon
Were yet to be explained
Go do your little dance
Maybe that's what makes it rain
Then science comes along
Proclaims it has the answer
To everything but happiness
And aliens and cancer
Much to the demise of the
Spiritual dancer
But you can't just back down now
Oh no, you dug yourself too deep
So you claim they're all conspiracists
Corrupt entitled sheep
It makes perfect sense to me
Why theses ideas will persist
And I'm sure if I was born down there
I too would be convinced
Way down where a faith in something big
Is the primo way to cope
So go say another prayer
Well if that's what gives you hope
Then Darwin comes along
Declares himself the teacher
Of anyone who'd like the source
Of every living creature
Much to the surprise
Of the miracle preacher
It makes perfect sense to me
How these ideas all got spread
It's only human nature to want
Life after you're dead

The windmill stopped turning
There’s something wrong with the gears
So the fuel’s been burning
It’s been a long last few years
The panels are busted
The dust must settle here
No point in dusting
The sky is never clear
But we need power
Or we’re toast
And by every passing hour
We’re getting close
It’s the light
I miss the most
And if it stays night
We’ll be ghosts
The panels are worthless
The sun is never coming back
And the ruin of the earth is
The burden of the black
The windmill stopped turning
Nothing’s ever built to last
And world is learning
She’s a figment of the past

Goneland

Well in the Goneland
Where the paper came from the land
And the paper made the money
And money had heart of man
Oh well it's funny now
To look over the sand
And wonder what used to be
The Goneland
They say they had nights
Where the big bands would play
And bright burning lights
Making night feel like day
And garbage all would vanish
Just by throwing it away
What a joy it must have been
The Goneland
Well in the Goneland
Where the climate guy was canned
Don't you worry 'bout the weather
Just stay loyal to the brand
Seems so silly now
Where supply exceeds demand
Oh what a joy it must have been
The Goneland
They say they burned poison
To move their cars
They say they fed boys and girl chocolate bars
Got bored of the moon
Now they're shooting for the stars
Oh what a joy it must have been
The Goneland
Well in the Goneland
Where the food came from the land
Well mama had dinner ready
But dinner didn't go as planned
Such a pity now
Shrinking portions getting bland
What a joy it must have been
The Goneland
Well they say they had ships
They could sail through the air
On their big fancy trips
They could fly anywhere
The world below is burning
But nobody seems to care
Oh what a joy it must have been
The Goneland
Well in the Goneland
Where the paper came from the land
And the paper made the money
And money had heart of man
Oh well it's funny now
To look over the sand
And wonder what used to be
The Goneland
